1,051,648. Perfluoro-2,4 - dimethyl - 2 - fluorocarbonyl - 1,3 - dioxolane. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. Oct. 14. 1964, No. 25543/66. Divided out of 1,051,647. Heading C2C. The invention comprises the compound of structure and its production by reacting perfluoropyruvyl fluoride or its dimer (see Specification 1,051,647) with hexafluoropropylene oxide in a polar organic solvent in the presence of an alkali metal fluoride at a temperature of above 150‹ C. The above compound is also obtained when perfluoro - 2 - oxo - 3,6 - dimethyl - 1,4 - dioxane is heated to above 100‹ C. in the presence of an alkali metal fluoride. The compound of the invention reacts with SF 4 to give
