In a method of dyeing packed or wound textile goods, e.g. hanks, the dye liquor is pumped in a circular course and at a pressure in excess of atmospheric pressure within a closed vessel through the goods and is characterised in that the amount of dye liquor is kept in known manner so small that no noticeable amount thereof remains in the dyeing vessel, i.e. the amount of dye liquor only fills the pump, the conduits and the goods, and the delivery of the pump (m<SP>3</SP>/min.) is such that the quotient of the delivery of the pump (m<SP>3</SP>min.) and the amount of dye liquor (m<SP>3</SP>), i.e. the so called 'return' of the dye liquor per minute is greater than 8. Preferably the dyeing liquor temperature is more than 100‹C. and this is reached in as short a time as possible (2 to 8 minutes) and the 'return' of dye liquor is increased up to 20 while the degree of resistance of the goods to the passage of dye liquor is kept correspondingly small.
