Abstract
1,050,202. Pipe and rod couplings. G. W. WYNN. June 8, 1964 [March 6, 1963], No. 34253/62. Heading F2G. [Also in Division E1] A pipe or rod coupling comprises a joint member 3 of the kind described in Specification 927,653 having divided spigot portions 5, 6 receivable in a sleeve 7 held in a tube 2 comprising a hollow pipe or a rod with a hollowed end or a sleeve attached to a rod the coupling being assembled by first inserting the sleeve in the tube and then the spigot in the combined sleeve and tube. The spigot may be tapered. Means locking the spigot in the pipe may comprise a spring clip of U-form with cranked ends (Fig. 2) or may have only one leg of the U (Fig. 4, not shown) or a portion of the spigot (Fig. 5, not shown) may form a tongue which is bent to pass through a recess in spigot 6. A portion of the end surfaces of the sleeves may be tapered to allow easy entry of the spigot and to allow the spigot to be withdrawn when it has been rotated to a position wherein the tapered portion is adjacent the locking means.
