Abstract

An isomeric mixture of a ,a 1-bis-(di-tert.-butyl - peroxy) - 1,3/1,4 - diisopropylbenzenes of the formula <FORM:1049989/C2/1> is prepared by reacting a mixture of a ,a 1-dihydroxy - 1,3/1,4 - diisopropylbenzenes with tert.-butylhydroperoxide in the presence of di-tert.-butyl-peroxide as a solvent and sulphuric acid as a catalyst. After the reaction, di-tert.-butyl-peroxide is removed by stripping with water. The product may contain 60-70% of meta-isomer and 40-30% of paraisomer. An example is given.
