Abstract

104,985. Stone, H. June 21, 1916. Cooking in water-tight vessels which are immersed in water.-Hams are placed in a rigid water-tight vessel of the shape of the ham, but containing no water. The vessel is then placed in water in any ordinary boiling-vessel, the water being maintained below the boiling-point. The ham is stated to retain its shape and to lose practically no weight. The vessel a of stout sheet metal, such as tin or aluminium, is permanently closed at its narrow end, while its opposite end is provided with a flange a' to which can be secured by bolts c and fly-nuts d a flat lid b, a rubber or like ring e being interposed. A safety-valve may be provided on the vessel.
