Abstract

1,049,514. Inductors. SOCIETE GENERALE D'APPLICATIONS ELECTRO-THERMIQUES. Jan. 8, 1964 [Nov. 28, 1963], No. 874/64. Heading H1T. A variable inductor connected between an electronic generator and an inductive load comprises a magnetic circuit in which the magnetic flux can be adjusted to provide an impedance which matches the load to the generator. In one embodiment, the magnetic circuit comprises two magnetic components 7, 8, Fig. 2, which can be moved together or apart so that the magnetic flux, resulting from the alternating voltage in bars 3, 4 which connect the generator to the load, can be adjusted to provide a suitable inductance in series with the load to modify the apparent impedance at the generator terminals. In another embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown), windings 11, 12 and 13, 14 supplied with variable direct current provide the necessary flux to a two-part core 9, 10 and are wound in " eight " formation on the core so that no alternating voltage is induced into the direct current circuit.
