Abstract

1,048,742. Spray-producers. ETABLISSEMENTS A. SISSON-LEHMANN. Feb. 12, 1964 [July 10, 1963], No. 5892/64. Heading B2F. In a spraying apparatus a nozzle tube 1 fitted with a nozzle 2 is rigidly attached to a piston 3 which travels inside a cylinder 4. The piston, which has passages 7 affording fluid communication between the interior 8 and a pipe 9, divides the cylinder into front and rear chambers 5, 6. The latter chamber communicates through a pipe 10 with a three way cock 11 hand controlled by a lever 12. In operation, pressure fluid is fed via a valve 19 and the pipe 9 into the chamber 5 prior to passing to the nozzle 2 through the passage 7 and the tube 1. If the lever 12 of the cock 11 is moved to position 'A' pressure fluid enters the rear chamber 6 via a pipe 10 and thus moves the piston 3 and hence the nozzle 2 forwardly. The speed of advance may be controlled by partially closing the cock 12 and also by the setting of a pressure limiting valve 18 in the rear wall of the chamber 6. The nozzle 2 is held at any given projection by moving the lever 12 to a position 'B' where the cock 11 closes the fluid supply to the chamber 6. In position 'R' the lever 12 sets the cock 11 such that the fluid in the chamber 6 is released thereby allowing the nozzle tube to retract such retraction arising from internal fluid reaction in the chamber 5. The fluid passes from the chamber 6 through a pipe 17 and after being treated in equipment 15 is passed to an opening 16 in which the tube 1 slides for cleaning and/or lubricating the external surface of the tube.
