Abstract
1,048,554. Temporary roadways. THEODOR WUPPERMANN G.m.b.H. July 18, 1963 [Aug. 4, 1962], No. 28542/63. Heading E1G. A temporary roadway, such as an aircraft runway, consists of a number of longitudinal strips each comprising series-connected rectangular sections 1, of steel, aluminium or synthetic resin, the transverse ends of which are articulated by integral arc formations 1a, 1b and the sides of which have members 3 secured thereto for the attachment of adjacent sections. The sections 1 may have U-shaped reinforcements 2 containing asbestos, rubber or synthetic resin strips to assist aircraft braking and they may be covered with synthetic resin. The attachment members 3 may engage an intermediate member 4 nailed to the ground or may interengage by wedge action for alignment. The intermediate member may hold the members 3 together by rubber blocks.
