Aug. 1, 1916 Body attachments; buoyant. - In folding life-saving pillows of the general type disclosed in Specifications 13325/88, 4422/94, and 24444/97, the pillow is made double the length and half the thickness of an ordinary pillow, so that when folded it can be inserted in an ordinary pillow slip. The casing of the pillow 1 is sewn transversely across the middle at 2 to form the folding line, and the two compartments so formed are filled with kapok, feathers, &c. When used as a life-belt, the shoulder tape 4 is passed round the neck and secured to the loops 3, and the tapes 5, 6 are tied round the body: the latter tapes are attached some little distance from the ends of the pillow to allow for overlapping when worn by thin persons. When in ordinary use as a pillow, the tapes 5, 6 are tucked through the loops 7, 8, and the whole folded with the tapes inwards.
