Abstract

1,047,120. Control of steam condensation plant. BROWN, BOVERI & CO. Ltd. June 10, 1965 [June 12, 1964], No. 24577/65. Heading B1B. A steam condensation plant, comprising a condenser 2 connected via a cooler 4 to a suction device 6, is controlled so that the amount of water-vapour in the iron-condensable gases withdrawn from the cooler is maintained at a predetermined level by an instrument 10 which measures the partial pressure of the gas in the gas/vapour mixture withdrawn from the cooler and acts on a controller 11 regulating the rate of discharge of the cooled gases from the system. As shown, suction device 6 is water-jet pump supplied with water by pump 7 driven by motor 8. Controller 11 regulates the speed of motor 8, or the valve 12 in the water-line 9, or a valve 13 which allows some of the gases to be discharged to atmosphere before they reach pump 6. Water-jet pump may be replaced by a dry vacuum pump.
