Abstract
1,046,826. Ejectors. W. R. CRAWFORD III. June 16, 1965, No. 25534/65. Heading F1E. [Also in Division B7] Apparatus for cleaning a ship's hull 10, Fig. 2 comprises a jet ejector having a converging section 44, a straight section 45 and a divergent section 46, the jet nozzle 30 which is threaded into the side of the conduit 24 of the apparatus being directed towards the smaller end of the converging section 44. Flexible hose 34 supplies water under pressure to nozzle 30 around elbow 32. The mouth of conduit 24 may be elongated to permit any convenient number of ejector assemblies to be positioned side by side. In a preferred form of ejector the diameter of section 45 is twice the jet diameter, the length of section 45 is 7 times its diameter and the distance from the nozzle tip to the start of section 45 is 1À1 times the jet diameter. The walls of sections 44 and 46 are respectively at 35 degrees and 5 degrees to the axis whilst the internal angle of the nozzle is 10 degrees.
