Abstract
1,046,625. Endless conveyers. MOLDED CONTAINER CORPORATION. Aug. 16, 1963, No. 32427/63. Heading B8A. [Also in Divisions B5 and F4] Apparatus for producing pulp articles comprises endless conveyers 20 and 22 carrying forming dies 50 and pressing and transfer dies 150, respectively, driven by a motor 230 through a gear-reducing unit 232, chains 234 and 236 and sprockete 32 and 235. The dies 50 are connected to a vacuum trough 94 during passage through a pulp vat 110 and to the hollow spokes 124, Fig. 7 (not shown), of a vacuum wheel 39 before passage below an oven 136 at which time they are connected to a vacuum trough 100. The dies 150 are-brought into contact with articles in the dies 50 by the action of a cam 152 and hydraulically actuated lever arms 166, Fig. 12 (not shown), having pressure rollers 188 which engage the side margins of transfer die plate 170. After pressing the dies 50 are disconnected from trough 100 and vacuum is connected to dies 150 by means of a vacuum trough 154, resulting in the articles being retained on the transfer dies. The articles are blown off dies 150 on to a takeaway conveyer 164. Prior to return to vat 110 the dies 50 are cleaned by spraying devices illustrated in Figs. 14 and 17 (not shown).
