Abstract

1,046,519. Electromagnetic relays. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Aug. 30, 1963 [Aug. 31, 1962], No. 34446/63. Heading H2B. The movable contact 14 of a sealed magnetic contact unit is mounted on a snap-action spring blade 13 and is moved with a snap-action when an armature 18 is attracted to magnetic members 8, 10 by an external magnetic field. A tooth 11 of the member 10 is preset so that the snap-action spring 13 normally biases the movable contact 14 into engagement with a fixed contact 19. The blade spring is trifurcated, the centre limb being corrugated. The unit is enclosed in a glass or metal cover 2 which is evacuated or filled with inert gas. In an alternative embodiment the armature is attracted to a single magnetic member.
