Abstract
1,046,000. Pepper extract. GRIFFITH LABORATORIES Ltd. July 19, 1965, No. 30493/65. Heading A2B. The oleoresin of black pepper, obtained by extracting the pepper with a volatile solvent and then removing the solvent, is separated into a liquid oil fraction consisting of volatile and non-volatile oils and dissolved piperine and a solid fraction comprising the undissolved piperine, by the application of an extragravitational force, for example centrifuging or forced filtration. The liquid fraction is usable as pepper flavour, and may be mixed with piperine to increase its pungency, or with other flavourings or inert diluents.
