1,045,736. Friction drop hammers. B. & S. MASSEY & SONS, Ltd., R. HUGHES, and B. MIDDLETON. Aug. 15, 1963 [Aug. 15, 1962], No. 31235/62. Heading B3H. [Also in Division F2] A friction lifter band or brake band e, particularly for a friction drop hammer, is reinforced at its high tension end with a multiplicity of steel plates a, b, c which form laminations. The band e is formed from a tapered length of thin cold rolled steel to which the laminations are secured by rivets m and by low melting silver solder. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, the inner ends of the laminations are of bifurcated profile.
