Abstract

104,531. Wallwork, R., and Wallwork, C. H. March 4, 1916. Tipping-tank valve apparatus. - Valves which are automatically opened after a, predetermined time by means of a tumbler weight which is caused to overbalance by the introduction of a suitable substance, such as water or other liquid, sand or shot, into the tumbler weight, have the weight so formed and arranged as to fall onto and open the valve and to remain in its fallen position until lifted by hand, the valve being then left accessible for operation by hand. The tumbler weight a is secured to a pivoted frame band is held in position when empty by a stop g bearing against a, stop f, the balance of weight when empty being on the left-hand side of the pivot. The weight is filled with water from a receptacle l through a nozzle n provided or a stopcock o turning in a horizontal axis. As the filled weight falls over to the right-hand side a projection p strokes the nozzle n and turns the stopcock o to turn off the water. The valve-handle h is turned when the weight falls by the stop g, which is adjustable.
