Abstract
1,044,789. Phase shifters. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Nov. 22, 1963 [Nov. 29, 1962], No. 46218/63. Heading H1W. A microwave line stretcher comprises a conductive housing 34, Fig. 13, containing a conductive strip 54 mounted (e.g. printed) on an insulating backing the strip and backing being movable (C-D) relative to, but without touching, input and output #/4 radiating loops 40, 40<SP>1</SP>. The strip 54, which is U-shaped, may be moved linearly or rotated. The conductive strip, 31, Fig. 5, is adjacent the radiating loop 50 in the resonant cavity 40 (Section 8) adjacent the input matching cavity 41 (Section 7). Behind the loop 50, the strip 31 is adjacent a non- contacting short (Section 9) in the cavity 42, which also contains lossy material (Section 10). The conductive material of the strip may be entirely surrounded by insulating material e.g. epoxy glass.
