Abstract

104,419. Adams, A. C. April 17, 1916. Spoons.-A fook, spoon, or the like is pivoted upon a member which may be secured to an artificial limb. The fork a, Fig. 2, is pivoted at b between two inclined surfaces c in a member d, which is attached to a member e screw-threaded at f for attachment to the artificial limb. The fork is provided with an extension a<1>, to which a spring h is attached so that the fork is normally kept in alinement with the member e. The fork is also provided with another extension a<2> to enable it to be operated by a cord or the like i controlled by the wearer, so that the fork may be turned to any desired angle. The stem a<3> of the fork may be made separately, as shown in Fig. 4, so that a spoon j may be substituted for the fork. In a modification, Figs. 6 and 7, the fork a or the like is pivoted as before and the member a is provided with an upstanding arm m formed with two stops n, o to limit the movement of the fork, which is operated by a cord i attached to the arm a<2>. In a further modification, Fig. 13, the end p of the fork stem abuts against a stop q to hold it firmly when picking up food. The stop q is controlled by a spring r and operated by a cord t.
