Abstract

1,043,667. Typewriting; selective printers. CREED & CO. Ltd. Aug. 6, 1965, No. 33803/65. Heading B6F. A keyboard locking mechanism which prevents the depression of other keys when one key is actuated comprises a blocking bar 7 attached to a link 8 which is guided for straight line movement in a guide 9 and articulated to toggle links 12, 13, the latter of which is pivotally attached to a fixed bracket located on the keyboard frame. In operation, depression of a key button 6 lowers the associated key lever 4 and means, not shown, exert a force at the point of articulation 14 to displace the toggle links 12, 13 from the chain-dotted position to the full line position shown, whereby the blocking bar 7 is curved obliquely and in a straight line under the lower surface of the key levers 2, 3 and 5 and prevents their depression. The oblique movement of the blocking bar clears the end of the depressed key lever 4. When the toggle links are erected links 8, 12, 13 are disposed along a straight line and link 12 abuts a stop 15.
