Abstract

1,043,583. Photocopying apparatus. U. WELP. June 21, 1963 [July 3, 1962, Jan. 11,1963], No. 24680/63. Heading G2A. Running image microfilm photocopying apparatus comprises a camera combined with a developing and fixing unit in which the film can be stopped at any instant in response to a control system which operates when, for example, errors in exposure or continuity occur. Film is led from spool 1 to the exposure station 3, 4 where original on conveyor belt 12 are copied, and on to the developing and fixing device 5 after which are provided a lens 6 for visual examination of the film, a photoelectric device 7 in which the density of the continuously exposed film margin is compared with a standard, and a roller 8 to sense the motion of the film. A further roller detects tearing on the film by generating an induction potential as a control signal. The devices 7 and 8 and the roller stop the apparatus if irregularities occur. The film is washed at 9, dried at 10 and rewound on spool 11. The apparatus copies 15 originals per second. In an embodiment, inclined mirrors direct light from the original to the objective lens, or a further system of mirrors may be used to photograph both sides of the original using the same objective, a transparent belt 12 being then required.
