Abstract

A method of covering a cylindrical body of substantially circular cross-section which comprises applying to the cylindrical body a resilient sheet of plastics materials to which sheet has previously been imparted a tendency to wrap itself substantially around the cylindrical body. Preferably, the plastics material is fed from a roll of material which has been subjected to heat treatment, e.g. 30 minutes in a heating chamber at 80‹ C., which imparts the tendency to roll, or has the inside surface of the wound sheeting treated with suitable solvents. The sheeting is used for covering heat-, low temperature- and sound-insulation to protect it from damage. The sheet material comprises a homopolymer or copolymer of vinyl chloride.
