Abstract

1,042,676. Forging. E. RIBBACK. Feb. 25, 1964, No. 7798/64. Heading B3H. A quick-acting machine hammer has two tools 3 each mounted on a double-arm lever 2 pivoted on a spindle 1 supported in an eccentric bush 6 which is rotatable by worm gearing 6, 7 for varying the stroke position of the tool, the eccentric bush 6 and the worm-wheel 7 being formed as a pendulum. Two levers 2 carrying opposed tools 3 are pivoted on spindles 1 and actuated by a crankshaft 4. Both eccentric bushes 6 are provided with worm-wheel quadrants 7 meshing with worms 8 on a strokeadjusting shaft 9. During operation of the hammer the pendulum mounted parts 6, 7 can oscillate causing the worms 8 to reciprocate on the shaft 9 between stops 10. This is stated to relieve the worm gear of the forces acting on the tools.
