Abstract
1,042,343. Dynamo-electric machine cooling. BRITISH JEFFREY DIAMOND Ltd. May 28, 1964 [May 28, 1963], No. 40468/65. Divivided out of 1,042,342. Heading H2A. In a dynamo-electric machine, e.g. a coal face equipment powering motor, having a rotor 6 carried by a shaft and a stator within a casing, the rotor is of squirrel cage construction and is provided between the bars 5 of its cage and the peripheral surface of its shaft with a plurality of axial pipes 4 through which coolant, e.g. water, can be circulated from a source outside the casing. The tubes are connected either all in parallel by respective elbows 16 to inlet and outlet passageways 17, 18 in the two ends of the shaft, or all in series between only two such elbows 16 by connectors interconnecting alternate adjacent pipe ends. The pipe, elbow, and connector joints are rendered flame-proof by screwed spigots and sockets 19, 21 . . . 23 having sealing rings 24 . . . 27. The casing, stator cooling, and connections to the passageways 17, 18 are as described in the parent Specification.
