Abstract

Crank linkages.-In internal-combustion engines, the big-end of the connecting-rod is pivoted on a lever rocking on an adjustable support and is connected by a link to the crank. The connecting- rod 5, Fig. 1, is connected by a link 4 to the crank 1, and is pivoted to a rocking-lever pivoted on a block 7 adjustable in guides 8. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, the block takes the form of a fork 9 carrying a pin 10, on which the lever 3 turns. A screw 13, rotatably carried by the fork 9, engages a fixed cover 14, is adjustable by means of a wheel fitted on the square end 15, and is locked by a nut 16. A graduated pin carried by the fork slides through the cover 14 and acts as an indicator. When applied to rnulticylinder en. gines, the separate forks are connected together and are adjusted simultaneously.
