Abstract

Aminostyrene, optionally together with a copolymerizable vinyl or vinylidene monomer, is heated to 150-250 DEG C. in an inert gas atmosphere, e.g. nitrogen, to form a heat-resistant polymer. The copolymerizable monomer may be styrene or methyl methacrylate. The polymer may contain at least 20% aminostyrene and may be produced by bulk polymerization. The polymers cross-link on heating by the following mechanism:- <FORM:1041866/C3/1>
