Abstract

1,040,901. Drawbars. AUTOSET (PRODUCTION) Ltd. Jan. 27, 1964 [Feb. 7, 1963], No. 4944/63. Heading B7T. A towbar 10 has a sleeve 15 fixed thereto providing a clevis connected by a pivot pin 13 and circlips 14 to a short bar 23 formed with eye rings 24, 25 at either end. The ring 25 is notched at 26 and engaged by the pointed nose 16 of a spring pressed member 19 longitudinally guided in the sleeve 15 by a detent 17. In operation the nose 16 engaging in the notch prevents angular movement between the bars 10, 23 unless the force of such movement is sufficient to push the member 19 back against its spring. The towbar may be supported by a pair of wheels and the coupling may be used to apply the trailer brakes. In a modification the slot may be located in the member 19 and the nose provided on the eye 25.
