Abstract
1,040,881. Stoves. OATLEY TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. March 4, 1963 [March 2, 1962], No. 8295/62. Heading F4W. An electric cooker comprises an oven 4 having in the upper surface of its top wall a heating plate 7 and, above the oven a grill 5 having a horizontal, downwardly directed, radiant 6 confronting heating plate 7 and vertically movable to adjust the distance of the radiant from the heating plate. Radiant 6 and cover 19 are secured to horizontal arms 22 fastened to rails 23 which slide in channels 24, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), between the rear wall of the oven and its back inner wall 10. Radiant 6 may be raised or lowered by means of a pulley, wire cable and counterweight system, Fig. 2 (not shown). Radiant 6 and heating plate 7 cannot be energized simultaneously since both are controlled by the same switch 21 through a selector switch 34. Radiant 6 or heating plate 7 can only be switched on when the radiant is a predetermined distance from the heating plate. This is achieved either by a detent 36, Fig. 3 (not shown), connected to switch 21 and interlocked with the lower end of one rail 23 or by an isolator switch operated by bifurcated arm 40, Fig. 4 (not shown), engaging a pin on one rail 23 so that raising or lowering rail 23 operates the isolator.
