[Also in Division F1] A control device for limiting the movement of an hydraulically or pneumatically operated machine part such as the cross slide of a lathe, comprises a body 10, Fig. 1 (not shown), having slidable therein a plunger 36 loaded by a spring 42 and arranged to be contacted by the machine part when its motion is to be terminated, whereby the plunger 36 closes a ball valve 22 so that pressure fluid e.g. air supplied through an inlet 12 no longer escapes through a port 20 but increases in pressure, thereby operating a pressure-operated valve (not shown) controlling the fluid supply to the operating cylinder moving the machine part. In Fig. 2 (not shown) a pair of control devices 82, 84 are mounted on a movable bracket 68 connected to double-acting pneumatic cylinders 74, 76 for moving a lathe cross slide 52 along a saddle 50. To move the slide 52 to the left (i.e. for feeding the front tool post) the cylinder 76 is held retracted and the ram 78 of the cylinder 74 is caused to extend until an adjustable stop 88 on a rod 70 movable with the slide operates the control device 84. To move the slide 52 to the right (i.e. for feeding the rear tool post) the ram 78 is held retracted and the ram 80 is extended until the control device 82 movable with the bracket 68 is operated by an adjustable stop 86 mounted on a fixed bracket 66.
