Apparatus for wrapping cigar bunches comprises two dies 1 and 2 over which reciprocating rollers 4 travel to cut wrappers of a predetermined shape which are taken up alternately by one of a pair of oscillating leaf holders 5 and conveyed to a wrapping station. The leaf holders are mounted on shafts 9 carried by arms 11 themselves pivoted on a shaft 10. Each shaft 9 is connected by a link 13 to a pin 12 connected by telescoping tubes 15, 16 to a crank pin 14 adjustably mounted on the shaft 10. Rotation of the arm 11 about the shaft 10 thus causes the leaf holder to assume the correct position for picking up a cut leaf and for transferring it to the bunch to be wrapped respectively. A triangular cam member 36 is provided on each leaf holder which is engaged by rollers 35 to lock it in position when it is in wrapper transferring position. The rollers 35 are mounted on a member 34 on a shaft 33 which is oscillated to move the rollers into and out of engaging position by an arm 37 and rod 38 operated by a cam. A similar oscillating shaft 20 carries a pusher plate 23 which bears against the pin 12 and serves to rotate the leaf holder slightly about the shaft 9 during rolling of the wrapper to obtain the desired wrap, Fig. 3 (not shown). The bunch to be wrapped is held in rolling mechanism comprising rollers 6 and smoothing blocks 7 and 8 mounted on a support 44 which is mounted for reciprocation between the two end positions shown on bars 45 and 46, reciprocation being effected by a cam operated lever 47. The rollers 6 are opened for reception and removal of a bunch by engagement of the support 44 with a strip 50, Fig. 2 (not shown). The rollers are continuously driven from a shaft 57 rotatably mounted in support 44 and provided with sprocket wheels 58 and 59 having free wheels. The wheel 58 is driven by an endless chain 60 driven so that on the wrapping stroke the rollers 6 are driven at the correct wrapping speed. On the return stroke the rollers 6 are driven more slowly by engagement of the wheel 59 with a fixed chain 64.
