Abstract

103.929. Johnson. E.. and Haigh. G. May 20, 1916. Mules.-To enable the carriage to be stopped at any point of its outward or inward travel, from several positions along the mule, the ordinary setting-on handle 3, which controls the driving-belt in the usual manner, is connected by a chain 17 and cords 18, 19, running overhead left and right from the headstock to a series of pendent straps, provided with handles and spaced out along the mule, so that by pulling any one of them, the handle is raised and thus freed so as to be drawn by the spring 16 into the stopped position. The spring is adjustably connected to the rod 3a of the setting-on handle by a strip of leather &c. 22 attached to the set-screw of a collar 23.
