Abstract
1,039,225. Transferring work. HURTH MASCHINEN - UND ZAHNRADFABRIK, CARL. April 10, 1963 [July 25, 1962], No. 14391/63. Heading B3B. [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for loading and unloading gearshaving or milling machines, lathes or other machine tools comprises a two-armed gripper 24, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), reciprocating between machine tools or between a machine tool 20 and a transport belt or belts 22 and rockable about an axis perpendicular to the feed path and symmetrical to the arms. An hydraulically-operated lifting device 23 raises a workpiece from the conveyer belt, which is adjustable in height on legs 29, 30, whence it is transferred to the gripper head 24. The switchgear is mounted in a box 35 and a pushbutton panel 34 permits manual control. The finished workpiece can be returned to the same conveyer or one parallel thereto. The gripper head 24 is adjustably mounted on a slide 41, Fig. 4 (not shown), moved by a reversible electric motor 106 and a chain 107 (or an hydraulic drive) along a track 25 adjustably mounted on a pillar 32. The motor 106 drives through a resilient worm gearing allowing for sudden reversal. The gripper head has a housing 50 angularly movable on a shaft 43 and carrying gripping devices mounted on shafts 54 (Fig. 8, not shown). The housing 50 is movable angularly by a rotary hydraulic motor 48, the movements being limited by two adjustable stops coasting with two other stops, the positions of which can be controlled hydraulically to give a possibility of four positions. Each shaft 54 carries an angularly movable part 56 carrying a jaw 65 and a jaw 70 movable by fluid means or a spring 72 carried on an arm 68 movable by fluid means 62. When the housing 50 is oscillated, bevel wheels cause oscillation of the shaft 54. (Alternatively, separate hydraulic motors rotate the arms and the part 56 can be moved angularly by hydraulic means). Movement of the slide 41 towards the conveyers may be slowed and then stopped by an adjustable fixed stop engaged by a stop 117, Fig. 11 (not shown), adjustable on the slide and mounted on a dashpot piston 109. (When two conveyers are used, a second stop can be swung into position by hydraulic (or electric) means). Continuously moving belts 22a, 22b, Fig. 14 (not shown), carry workpieces up to a stop 138. When an electromagnet 147 (or an hydraulic or mechanical device) is actuated, the stop 138 is retracted, a stop 136 advanced and a stop 137 swung aside to allow a finished piece 21f to proceed. The workpiece 21f actuates a switch 150 to cause the stops to be repositioned so that the next workpiece is then against the stop 137. The conveyer belts consist of work support elements 166, Fig. 16 (not shown), carried by links running over adjustable supports 159 and 160. The edges of the workpieces are guided by adjustable strips 164.
