Abstract
1,039,169. Recovering polymers. MINISTERAL INDUSTRIEI PETROLULUI SI CHIMIEI, RUMANIA. Sept. 19, 1963, No. 36983/63. Heading C3P. Polymer insoluble in water in the form of particles is obtained from a solution of the polymer by gradually introducing the solution into heated water which is being stirred and contains a suspension-stabilizing agent soluble therein, such as a sulphonated fatty alcohols, cellulose ethers or esters, or water-soluble polymers. The polymer solution may be the solution left after it has been treated to remove catalyst residues, e.g. according to conventional techniques for Ziegler-Natta-type catalysts. In Examples (1) and (2), polyisoprene in respectively n-heptane, and petrol ether, made using a catalyst consisting of TiCl 4 and AlR 3 are recovered by introducing the solution into water at 90-95‹ C. containing sulphonated fatty alcohols. The Specification contains a diagram of a suitable arrangement of vessels &c. for carrying out the process and recovering the product.
