Walls. - In dwelling-houses and other buildings the walls are built of cement and concrete slabs A formed with ribs or projections K which leave hollow spaces of considerable size within the walls. Lathing for holding the plaster is nailed to the inner edges of the projections. Where the slabs are reinforced, the rods, plates or wire mesh may be bent so as to reinforce the ribs or projections, Batt bolts may be cast into the projections for securing the slabs to angle or T irons C. The projections are adapted to bond with brick work or stone rubble-work, and are so arranged as to form wings or buttresses which may be perforated at the floor level, and joists E may be bolted thereto. Air spaces between the inner face of the slab and the laths and plaster serve as a. protection against cold and damp. Slabs with extra deep projections may be used in forming stores, larders, or wardrobes G. Grooves are formed round the edges of the slabs so that they may be grouted together.
