Abstract
A medicament for skin maladies consists of thixotropic aqueous mixture comprising 0.5-10% fibrous boehmite, 0.5-30% sodium thiosulphate, and 10-25% alcohol, the percentages being by weight and the mixture having a pH of 4-6.5. The alcohol may be a C1-4 alkanol or C2-4 alkylene glycol, or mixture thereof. The medicament may optionally contain salicylic acid, resorcinol, menthol, camphor, a chelating agent e.g. disodium EDTA, hydrocortisone acetate, hexachlorophene, p-chloro-m-xylenol, phenol, non-ionic and/or cationic detergents, e.g. an alkyl benzyl di (lower alkyl) ammonium chloride, sulphur, coal tar, ichthyol, or balsam Peru.
