Abstract

1,038,097. Corrugating non-metal sheets. J. BOBST ET FILS S.A. Oct. 9, 1963 [Oct. 23,1962], No. 39717/63. Heading D1S. [Also in Division B5] A press, suitable for punching or corrugating cardboard sheets, comprises an upper fixed platen 24 and a lower movable platen 23 having a convex face which is pressed against the upper platen in a rolling motion. The toggles 21, 22 actuating the lower platen are driven by members 17, 18 eccentrically pivoted to the main driving shaft 15 at points 19, 20, the angle between the radii passing through the two points being approximately 90 degrees. A similar pair of toggles is disposed at the opposite end of the driving shaft. As the shaft is rotated in the direction shown in Fig. 2 toggle 21 is extended and 22 retracted until points 19, 20 are disposed symmetrically about axis x-y (see Fig. 3, not shown) whereupon further rotation retracts toggle 22 and extends 21 until the position shown in Fig. 4 is reached. Continued rotation of the shaft at first retracts both toggles and then extends toggle 22 until the position shown in Fig. 2 is again reached, the platen thus being retracted, tilted and reengaged with the upper platen. Any sliding between the platens is prevented by a bent lever 26 which is pivoted about a fixed point 27, its upper end being pivoted to a member 28 slidable within platen 23. The lower end of the lever is actuated by a cam 16 mounted upon shaft 15 in such a manner that the upper end 28 is oscillated about axis x-y in a motion consistent with no sliding between the platens.
