Abstract

103,754. Potter, W. E. May 24, 1916 Mooring. - Relates to weighting-means for appli cation to the anchoring cables of ships and boats to increase the grip of the anchor and to give elasticity to the anchorage by flexing the cable. The device consists of a hook A and a weight-holding lever B pivoted to the shank of the hook and provided with a part B<1> which closes the hook automatically when the device is hung on the mooring-cable G. When the device is held by the pivoted handle D, the hook falls forward by gravity into the open position. A cord attached to the shackle E of the weight is used to determine the position of the device along the cable and to haul the device back.
