Hollow articles such as pipes are gripped internally by jaws A, B which are pivoted together by links C and urged apart by a ram E. The jaws may be swung to the position shown in dotted lines by a ram K, and the whole device may be mounted on a masted lift-truck by a bracket J. Several pairs of jaws may be suspended from a frame G, Fig. 2 (not shown). The device may be supported on the three-point linkage of a tractor, Fig. 3 (not shown). The jaws may be provided with friction pads.
