Abstract

A device for facing, and deburring pipe ends comprises a hollow shaft 3 driven by a gear 2, and mounted in a machine bed 1, a spindle 5 rotatably fixed, but axially slidable in the shaft, and a piston 6, slidable in the spindle. A slide 11 carries radially adjustable tool holders 12, 12a, for cutters 13-15, and co-operates with an oblique projection 9 in the piston, so that as the piston is moved axially, slide 11 is moved radially. In operation, fluid is supplied to chamber 20 through a passage 6c in piston 6. Spindle 5 and piston 6 move towards pipe 18, and cutter 15 faces the end of the pipe, until a stop 8 abuts bed 1. Piston 6 continues to move axially against springs 6a, 6b, until guide 6d abuts bed 1, and slide 11 moves radially, so that cutters 13 and 14 remove the burrs on the outside and inside of the pipe respectively.
