Abstract

1,035,402. Tobacco pipes. G. E. LOVELL and L. R. GILES. June 15, 1965 [March 3, 1964; March 18, 1964], Nos. 11379/64 and 11380/64. Addition to 971,078. Heading A2M. A pipe described and claimed in the parent Specification wherein the bowl portion 8 is connected to the mouthpiece portion 7 by three tubes through which the smoke successively passes for cooling, is modified in that two of the tubes are connected by a duct 28 formed in the bowl portion 8. The bowl portion 8 comprises two parts 14 and 15 of plastics material which are screw-threaded together to enclose a wood portion 19. The duct 28 is formed by a groove in the part 14 or may be formed by grooves in both parts 14 and 15 (Fig. 3, not shown). The portion 19 has an opening 22 into which a metal stud 24 may fit. A chamber 23, which may include filter material, is formed between the portion 19 and part 14 which is connected to the tube 10. The tube 10 communicates with tube 12 via a connection in the mouthpiece 7 (Figs. 2 and 6, not shown). The tube 12 is connected at the bowl end with the duct 28. The third tube is connected to the other end of the duct 28, the smoke passing via this tube and the mouthpiece to the smoker's mouth. In a second embodiment (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) the tubes may be arranged in a cluster so that when viewed in cross-section they are situated at the corners of an inverted equilateral triangle.
