A ball-winding machine in which each flyer includes a thread-guiding tube has a blower arranged to apply suction to the outlet of each tube in order to draw a yarn therethrough. The blower 50, Fig. 1 (not shown), and its tube 72, may be used on several flyers 2 extending along the machine. The blower 50 rests on a two-armed lever 58 that normally maintains upon a switch 60 but when the blower is removed a spring 59 acting on the lever 58 permits the switch 60 to close and energize the blower.
