Abstract

1,034,857. Taximeters. BELL PUNCH CO. Ltd. Aug. 20, 1964 [Aug. 21, 1963], No. 33099/63. Heading G4T. Each unit of a taximeter display counter is impulsed by a solenoid 5 (Fig. 2, not shown), to rotate a counter drum attached by a spring to a toothed wheel 12, and a switch 18 for impulsing the solenoid of the next highest unit is operated by cams 16 or 17 on a drum 15 also mounted on the toothed wheel 12. Switches are arranged to start the counter mechanism after a predetermined rotation of wheel 12 representing a given distance at a fixed charge. Each display unit is covered by a shutter when not in use and is opened by operation of a solenoid to move a plate co-operating with a pin on the shutter. A lamp is lit for the " Hired " condition and also lamps indicating special tariffs. Further similar counters indicate " Extras " and all counters are zeroized by a " For Hire " switch and relay.
