Abstract

1,006,979. Taximeters. GEECEN Ltd. July 29, 1964 [Aug. 9, 1963], No. 31543/63. Heading G4T. A taximeter comprises three separate devices including a driver's device 26 for controlling 23 a time and distance drive 20 according to " For Hire ", " Hired ", and " Stopped " conditions which transmits electrical impulses to a passenger fare 31 indicator 25. Press buttons 33 may switch the taximeter mechanism in a forward or backward direction as described in Specification 956,704. A supervisory fares totaliser 27 may be attached to any one of the three devices or may be separate and may be covered by a blind. Windows 32A, 32B indicate " extras ". Lamps 34 indicate the " For Hire " etc. conditions of the taxi. The time and distance drive shaft operates a cam for raising and lowering a lever under action of a spring thus opening and closing electric contacts to cause intermittent energization of solenoids which rotate fare indicator drums through pawl and ratchet devices.
