Abstract

1,034,689. Change speed controls. LINDE A.G. Sept. 17, 1963 [Sept. 18, 1962], No. 36474/63. Heading F2D. [Also in Division H2] A detachable interlock ensuring that one piece of equipment is not switched out when another is switched in in electrical gear, or, as shown, preventing simultaneous engagement of the highest gears in both of two serially arranged change-speed gears to prevent exceeding a speed limit in an agricultural tractor or trailer towing vehicle, a pivoted latch plate 15 is movable into a " dotted " position shown in which an abutment 21 thereon engages a pin 16 on a rod 6 thereby preventing movement of the rod in one direction (4) only whilst permitting bidirectional movement of a rod 7 and is movable into a " full " position shown in which an abutment 18 engages a pin 17 on the rod 7 thereby preventing movement of that rod in a direction (II) only whilst permitting bidirectional movement of the rod 6. The latch plate is held in its " dotted " and " full " positions by the respective engagement of bearing faces 22, 23 thereon with the pins 17, 16 when the rods 7, 6 are moved in the " II " and " 4 " directions. The abutments 21, 18 are shaped to enable each of the pins 16, 17, on the corresponding rod movement, to cam the latch plate out of its way when the latch is not locked by the other pin. As shown, in the control for serially arranged change-speed gears, lower ends 11, 11a of two conventional gear-shift levers respectively engage 1-2 and 3-4 shift rods 5, 6 of one change-speed gear and I-II and Reverse shift rods 7, 8 of the other change-speed gear, a guide plate 9 ensuring cross-shifts in the neutral positions only. The latch plate is pivoted at 13 on a plate 14 attached to a block 12 carrying the shift rods. The pins 16 17 may be hollow " roll " spring pins.
