Abstract
1,034,125. Mixing solids and liquids. R. BENASSI. April 8, 1963 [April 7, 1962], No. 13963/63. Heading B1C. In apparatus for moistening granular or pulverulent material the latter is supplied at a from a hopper not depicted and falls on and rotates a blade wheel 4 which drives a bucket wheel 6, whereby liquid is raised from a tank 7 and discharged into a collector tank 7<1>, and thence supplied by tube 81 to a rotating dished atomizing member 12. The atomized liquid impinges on and wets the solid material as it falls from the edge of a distributor cone 11. The wetted material falls into the bottom of the container 1 where it is homogenized by the rotating paddles 18 and moved outwards by centrifugal force until it is discharged at b through the outlet 21. The position of the collector tank 71 is adjustable within the bucket wheel 6 to collect more or less of the water falling from the buckets 5, see Fig. 2 (not shown). Means are provided for stopping the apparatus if one of the motors 10, 15 fails.
