Abstract

103,391. Jones, D. D. March 31, 1916. Couplings, non-automatic.-In a D-shackle for colliery trams, the pin A is locked in position by the engagement of the ends of a spring handle D in an annular groove F in the upper limb of the D. Withdrawal of the handle from the pin is prevented by a cross-pin G. Figs. 8 and 9 show alternative forms of the handle. Car-derailers.-To derail the last vehicle in a train of trams, if the train should back down an incline, a pointed bar, adapted to dig into the track, is secured to the rear of such vehicle by forming it with a D.shackle as described above.
