Each coupling-chain comprises an inner link c connected by a second link d to the coupling-hook e, and the link c is connected to the draw-bar a by engaging a bolt b extending across the forked end of the bar so that the chain when hanging vertically in the out-of-use position projects as little as possible beyond the end of the vehicle. In coupling, the hook e engages the link d on the adjoining vehicle.
