Abstract
1,033,320. Heat-shrunk wrapped packages. VICTRYLITE CANDLE CO. Dec. 2, 1963 [April 8, 1963], No. 47466/63. Heading B8C. A candle 5 or other heat-sensitive article has wrapped about it a film which clings to itself where it laps, and the film is subsequently heat-shrunk without physical contact between the package and the heat source. The Specification describes a machine in which the film 13 is tubed about a series of candles by a trough 16 (Fig. 3, not shown), fixed folders 18, 20, and freely rotating rollers 21, and the tube is then gripped, between candles, by grippers 12 mounted on a rotating wheel. The grippers 12 maintain tension on the rubber tubes 17 while they are carried past a hot air stream 25. A guillotine embodied in each gripper 12 subsequently cuts the packages from the web. The wrapper film is preferably of the type which sticks to itself by reason of static electricity, and which ceases to shrink once it is in contact with the article. The method of the invention may be carried out by hand.
