Abstract
1,031,629. Magnetic compositions. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. April 15, 1965 [April 17, 1964], No. 16175/65. Heading H1H. A manganese-zinc ferrite contains at the grain boundaries Cu and one of the metals Ca, Sb and V in order to improve the properties. In preparation the metal oxides are mixed, compressed under 1-15 metric tons/sq. cm., sintered for five hours at 1200-1300‹ C. in N 2 containing 1-5% O 2 and cooled in N 2 over 15 hours. The quantity of CuO added may lie between 0À05 and 0À5% by weight, and that of the other additional oxide between 0À1 and 2À0% by weight, the total additions being less than 2.5% by weight. The examples specify as main compositions (i.e. without the additions) the following compositions 52À5 mol. % Fe 2 O 3 , 28À3 mol. % MnO, 19À2 mol. % ZnO, 54À5 mol. % Fe 2 O3, 30À0 mol. % MnO, 15À5 mol. % ZnO.
