Abstract

1,030,736. Sliding roofs. WEATHERSHIELDS Ltd. April 3, 1964 [April 9, 1963], No. 14049/63. Heading B7B. [Also in Division E2] A vehicle having a roof panel which slides rearwardly under the fixed roof part is provided with a rod 25 secured under the fixed roof part and a locking mechanism on the panel to retain it in position. The frame 14 of the panel carries locking members 27, 28 mounted on springs 29 to urge them together so that the apertures in the members 27, 28 frictionally engage the rod 25 to prevent movement of the panel. The members 27, 28 are urged apart out of locking engagement by a spring-urged pivoted cam - plate 41 having downturned lugs 40 which engage the free ends of the locking members, the cam-plate 41 being rotated by lugs 30, 31 on a reciprocable operating member 33 connected to a suitable hand grip.
