The jacket of the parent Specification comprises in addition an inflatable bag or bags located between the inner and outer layers of air- and water-impermeable material. The bag(s) preferably extend(s) over the back and chest regions. An inflation tube is arranged to be accessible to the wearer's mouth and has a valved end. A separate relief valve may be provided. Flexible loops may be provided at the back of the neck and on the shoulders to receive a grapnel or hook.
